PEGGY & MOLLY – The Animated Series is inspired by the real life story of Gold Coast couple Juliette Wells and Reece Mortensen, who were out walking their loveable Staffy Peggy when they found an abandoned magpie chick.

After waiting to see if its parents would return, they took the fledgling home and nursed it back to health – by which time it had permanently imprinted on Peggy, believing her to be its mum. Soon afterwards, Peggy’s four-legged puppy Ruby entered the family – and the online videos that Juliette and Reece posted of the mismatched but very loving family reached 2.5 million followers!

People around the world were enchanted, witnessing all the big moments in Peggy and Molly’s lives together – romping in the backyard, playing fetch, Peggy teaching Molly to bark, Molly trying to teach Ruby to fly… And at the end of each day, the heartwarming sight of all three snuggling down together in Peggy’s cozy dog bed, Molly cuddling the Staffy’s affectionately under an outstretched wing.

There was a surprise a little later when Molly’s grown-up feathers came in – and it was suddenly clear that “she” was actually a male! It’s lucky the name “Molly” works just as well for boys and girls… err, right?
