The Story
Like the real events that inspired it, PEGGY & MOLLY – The Animated Series takes place in an idyllic outlying suburban area on the Queensland Gold Coast, a stone’s throw from a beautiful tropical beach and surrounded by a mixture of small farms and rainforest hinterland.
Peggy, Ruby and Molly’s house is on a large block behind a drive-in, not too far from the implausibly award-winning local bakery (“Best Anzac Biscuits in the Southern Hemisphere”). As well as the main dwelling, there’s also a large garage/workshop and a free-standing granny flat, home to pampered feline Shelley.

MOLLY’S BEST NEST
Peggy and Ruby are confused by things going missing around the house until they find Molly is displaying a new behaviour – trying to make a nest. He can’t help it – don’t all dogs do it? Not wanting to make Molly feel strange, Peggy and Ruby decide to pitch in and help by gathering nesting materials at the tip (sneaking past the feral cats) and selecting the best place to build a nest that can fit two dogs and a bird. Easy… right?
THE GAVEN GHOST
During a blackout, Peggy is dreading the kids going bananas over the change in routine so she makes up a story about the Gaven Ghost – a ghost who appears during blackouts looking for naughty pups to take back to Gaven – the most BORING suburb in the Gold Coast. The story works… a little too well. When the kids go straight to bed, they see a wind-blown paper bag and think it’s the ghost! Peggy’s quiet night turns into a Scooby-Doo monster chase, with only herself to blame.
DOG TOY OF TERROR
When Ruby’s new motorised dog toy repeatedly skittles Molly, he becomes frightened of the fiendish ball and throws it in the bin – much to Ruby’s dismay. Realising his error, Molly tries to retrieve it but the feral cats have snatched it already and are playing with it. Molly challenges them to a sudden death soccer match for the dog toy – “winner takes ball”. It’s all Ruby can do to keep the ball out of their net while Molly must overcome his paralysing ball-o-phobia and get in the game.
CONE OF SHAME
After Molly’s latest attempt to teach Ruby to fly results in a vet visit, the pup returns wearing a “Cone of Shame”. Molly and his friends can’t help laughing at her bizarre new “look” and Ruby storms off, barricading herself in the kennel despite Molly’s best attempts to apologise. Stymied, Molly gives up and heads for the beach. Ruby realises her cone amplifies her hearing and catches wind of Sarge and Wolf’s plan to capture Molly! Can Ruby push aside her anger and save her big brother? And what other cone powers does she discover?
MOLLY MOULTS
One day, out of the blue, Molly’s feathers start falling out. Molly is oblivious at first before Peggy shoves him in front of a mirror – naked! Mortified, Molly vows to hide until his feathers grow back. Peggy reminds him that his friends Matilda and Tobi are coming over for a play date in ten minutes!! In a frantic and frenetic fashion show, the family attempts to clothe Molly in something – anything! – before the embarrassment of a lifetime comes through the front doggy door.
